After having a late start due to a fire alarm going off, the club had a lengthy discussion on Suzanne Collin's Catching Fire, the second book in the trilogy. Here is a short summary on what was talked about:

-The love "triangle" between Katniss, Gale, and Peeta.
-What we think will happen to the relationships between Katniss and the boys in the final book.
-Who will she end up with? Either of them?
-Who we think she should be with.
-The role of the Capitol/ Emperor Snow.
-How they know what Katniss was doing in the woods.
-How they might represent today's weaponry... which led to how Panem might reflect today's society.
-The seclusion of the districts.
-How, today, no one learns about other countries.
-How, in the Capitol, all they care about is having fun and looking "good".
-How will Katniss turn out at the end of the last book.
-Will there be personal sacrifice?
-Family or friends dead?
-Will she become like Emperor Snow and follow most of his ways?
After we finished talking about the book, Mrs. Mazur brought up the possibility of having someone from Anderson's Bookshop talk to us at our next meeting.
Each of our club members have selected a book to read during winter break (and finals) that we will tell the rest of the group about at the next meeting.
Our next Meeting is going to be in January after finals.
